Lamin Lodge is a three-story wooden construction on stilts, overlooking the mangroves of the river Gambia. Situated at the riverside of Lamin village, it is easily reacheable from the Gambian capital. From the hotel area it takes about 20 minutes by taxi, from the airport 10 minutes and people who want to take public transport can take a car to the village of Lamin from where it is a 15-minute walk.

Lamin Lodge is basically a restaurant, but it is also the point of departure for many of GRE's excursions. It can receive groups of up to 140 people, but individual visitors are just as welcome.

The Menu

Lamin Lodge offers an extended range of both European and African dishes. It is also one of the only restaurants in the Gambia who serves the delicious mangrove oysters, freshly picked from the river Gambia every morning.

Besides serving a la carte meals, Lamin Lodge also offers genereous buffets for groups from 4 up to 140 people. Some exemples of buffets are: the Gambian buffet, which offers a selection of 3 traditional Gambian dishes; the dinner buffet, which combines both pork leg, chicken yassa and oysters; and the seafood buffet, which combines oysters, prawns and grilled fish.

All buffets have as dessert a selection of mixed tropical fruits. Other desserts available include homemade pancakes with local marmelade, crepe flambe and banane flambe.

 

For less then 300 dalasis (7 - 8 euro) you can join one of our buffets, but we do suggest to book in advance. For a la carte meals reservation is not needed and prices start from 110 dalasis onwards. Just being in Lamin Lodge is already an activity in its own right. The sights and sounds of the river are magical, and the troop of baboons that might come to disturb you only adds to the feeling of being cut off from the rest of the world.

Furthermore, Lamin Lodge is an excellent base for hiking along the riverside or in the surrounding gardens of Lamin village. Lamin Lodge also has a few plastic kayaks for rent, that can be used by people who want to discover the surrounding creeks on their own tempo.
